Update, plus Exploring Watercolor Exhibition today

Last Wednesday evening was my PowerPoint presentation at Western Ohio Watercolor Society in Springfield. This was my second outing for the program and I was glad everything went smoothly. I've heard horror stories about trying to set up these digital presentations, but have had some good advice from a blog reader who suggested that I carry a power strip and extension cord with me and use my own projector when I can. As I set up the equipment, the coordinator, who had everything in place that I needed, realized she didn't have an extension cord. Voila! I had mine in my tote bag. So keep that in mind, PowerPoint Presenters: power strip, extension cord, and a disk or thumb drive copy of your program, "just in case."

My husband got the brilliant idea that I could do a mini-presentation at book signings or classes using the same program, by saving it to an SD card that fits into a table-top digital photo viewer. Now, that is really slick. It works better if the lighting isn't too bright, or maybe I should get a larger image screen. It ran today during the opening of our show.

I've created a Web page for the "Exploring Watercolor" opening. We were amazed at the number of visitors keeping us busy for two hours--a rough guess, about 80. Some of the artists set up to paint and guests enjoyed watching them work as they munched on the homemade goodies the artists provided.

Many of the artists were in our first show two years ago. I can see real progress in their work, both in that show and the one this past spring. Our next show will be the summer of 2009. I can't wait to see what they come up with.

Busy week

Yesterday we hung the Exploring Watercolor Exhibition of my Hithergreen class. It looks great. I'm so proud of my students. They are growing by leaps and bounds. Twenty-six are in the show, with more than 50 paintings displayed.I took photos and hope they turn out so I can post a Web page. The students did a good job arranging and hanging the show and now they're all excited about the opening next Monday.

Thanks to Art to Art Palette for posting the news release for the show and also for posting reviews of Confident Color (scroll down the page to the bottom).

Today I'm reviewing my PowerPoint presentation for the Western Ohio Watercolor Society meeting tomorrow evening. It has been six weeks since I did my first one and I want to be sure I remember how to get it set up.

The weather has been incredible for the past week, cold at night, but warming up to light-jacket temps in the daytime. Sunny, and pure magic with the leaves in full color.
