Here's the printer test strip I made to compare different printer and program settings. Numbering from left to right:
1. No Color Management (ICM setting) This one is over-saturated and too dark. Doesn't look like her. Oddly, several people liked this one best.
2. Photoshop Elements control (Adobe RGB Gamma 2.2) This has a much better skin tone, my favorite.
3. Printer Control (Adobe Vivid) This is pretty, but has a slight bluish cast.
4. Printer Control (Auto Enhance) This is slightly darker than #2, but acceptable.
5. Monitor adjusted to match #4. Too washed out.
PSEs color management tools were helpful, but I had to do a lot of cross-referencing to understand the terminology. Little by little it's beginning to sink in.
(I deleted my first comment because of a misspelling). Getting your printer to print out the correct color is a challenge. I understand there are tricks to it but I haven't figured them out, yet. Some programs seem to be more true to life than others. I'm with you, I like #2 and #4.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many variables it's hard to know where to begin. Years ago I used HP printers with HP and Kodak papers and I didn't fiddle with color management. But the inks weren't lightfast or water resistant and I couldn't buy individual color cartridges, so I switched to Epson printers. I like the Epsons much better. I think HP may have gone to individual pigmented inks, etc., but I'll stick with Epson.
ReplyDeleteI have used HP laser jet printer.I found its good print quality.
ReplyDeleteThere are many good printers and printer systems. My posts refer to those I am familiar with. I'm sure there are forums that have usefulinformation on laser printers.
